Well Versed is attempting to find ways to support the Jewish people during this onslaught of murder launched by Hamas. The Well Versed Israel Relief Fund will go towards providing some very basic things for some of the 300,000 reservists who were called into active duty with no time to prepare, and many others impacted by the war. The troops often need things as basic as socks, underwear, and toothbrushes.

I admit, we have been a bit slow to select where to direct financial support. Why? We were vetting numerous individuals and agencies for several days. We want to find the ones that:

1. Can get the funds directly to the end-user the fastest
2. Expend very few precious limited dollars in overhead costs so that the funds are used for those most needy
3. Are legally within U.S. law, in full compliance
4. Have integrity
5. Have the greatest practical impact

EXPLANATION: Well Versed funds will comply with the law. To make certain, we talked directly with a Washington, DC attorney to make certain donations are made in conformity with the law. The funds of Well Versed will not be used for offensive weapons, such as guns or ammo. The U.S. Government can supply such items, but private citizens or organizations cannot legally do that. Thus, we are looking for ways to supply basic items and even protective gear, but not items used in offense. A helmet or a bulletproof vest is protective gear, so those can be given.
 
When dealing with a foreign government, it is important to be in full compliance with U.S. law. For example, we have had the privilege of meeting with several Heads of State – Presidents, Prime Ministers and one King. Although at the time a number of us had served on the Faith Advisory Group for President Trump (during the 2016 campaign, then under a different structure and name during his Presidency), we made it clear that we were not representing him, or the U.S. government, or even the government of Israel, or any government. We were traveling as private citizens, persons of faith, representing only the Word of God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Compliance is vitally important.

The good news is that there are so many needs that can be legally met. In addition, some of the funds will be used for humanitarian efforts, such as helping those profoundly impacted by war. We have spent considerable time trying to find ways to bless the Jewish people and the State of Israel, honoring the Biblical truth of Genesis 12:1-3.

Israel’s making care packages for troops, and military personnel saying “Thank you.”

Here are some of the places where we will be donating funds.

1. Boneh Israel (Build Israel), a non-profit organization co-founded by Christian evangelical Byron Stinson (Texas) and Orthodox Jew Ytshak Mamo (Israel), is preparing care packages for troops.
2. One organization (MyMedic Charities) is helping get pre-hospital equipment to the military and civilians. The kits are complete with tourniquets, chest seals, quick-clot gauzes, NPA, shears, gloves, and a space blanket. These are designed to treat trauma injuries in the field. 
3. Member of the Knesset Sharren Haskel is connecting us with a factory that manufactures mattresses for the military. Right now, she reported to us that many of the reservists are sleeping on hard floors.
4. One man is volunteering his time in southern Israel, getting basic supplies for soldiers. This can include things as simple as water, personal hygiene items, underwear, socks, and protective gear, such as helmets and bulletproof vests.
5. Some of the support – via The Jewish Agency – will go towards civilians tragically impacted by war, sometimes even moving people out of harm’s way, particularly the very elderly. Some homes were burned down, and they had to relocate with nothing.

We are asking the Holy Spirit to help us know how to balance all these pressing needs.
