After Procrastinating For a Year, I Finally Did It.

I have been procrastinating one particular task for an entire year. Allow me to explain.

My book REVERSED: FROM CULTURALLY WOKE TO BIBLICALLY AWAKE came out one year ago. It has since come out in Spanish. It is now coming out in Portuguese, Hungarian and Armenian.

I needed to get some supporting products out with the REVERSED book. The accompanying children’s coloring book is done. 
 
Each page of the WELL VERSED KIDS COLORING BOOK corresponds with the REVERSED book chapter. For example, page 14 in the coloring book is the same theme as chapter 14 in REVERSED. (You can order the Kids Coloring book here)

I needed to get the audiobook out. So that is now done. It is available on Amazon. If you don’t want to read 500 pages, you can listen to it and order it here.
 
But there was one thing I was avoiding. I needed to do 60 videos, one for each chapter of the REVERSED book.
 
But, given the fact that REVERSED covers nearly 60 topics, some of them being very technical which require an enormous amount of preparation time, followed by huge amounts of taping time, which is then followed by weeks of what is called “post-production,” editing and preparing them for release, I kept postponing this project. 
 
In addition, there are four or five study questions that have to be written for each chapter, so that the REVERSED book can be used for a small group study, just like WELL VERSED was used. (See www.WellVersedBook.com) 
 
I have tried to find the right studio in which to do the recordings. I explored lots of options, most of them rather half-heartedly, procrastinating as long as I could. 
 
Then my buddy Rob Price contacted me about doing a series on REVERSED. I told him what I needed to do. He said, “Come record those here in our studio in Texas.”
 
Who is Rob Price? He is Chairman of the Communications Department at Nelson University in Waxahachie, Texas (https://www.nelson.edu/), about 15 minutes south of the Dallas Metro Area. But he is more than that.
 
When I wrote my book on THE COVENANT many years ago, Rob Price contacted me and said, “I want to interview you about ‘the covenant.’ I have a huge interest in that topic.” And he did.

The result was that Rob, at the time a very young video professor, had studied the topic so much that I decided to do a second edition to my book THE COVENANT, renaming it THE BLOOD COVENANT, adding his understanding, doubling the size of the book, and making him my co-author. Thus we have a relationship that goes back decades. You can order the book here.
 
Now back to the present: When he said, “Come do your taping here in Texas,” I knew I could not put the task off any longer.

So we spent this past week at Nelson University (formerly known as Southwestern Assemblies of God University) in Waxahachie, Texas, in the spectacular “John and Diana Hagee Communications Center.” (Thank you, Pastor and Mrs. Hagee for making a donation that made this building possible!)

I am so thankful for the tremendous skill and brilliance of Rob Price. And thank you to Nelson University Communications student Gabe Lapusan for patiently working with us day after day.

It was an intense few days of taping, from morning till night.

And special recognition goes to my wife Rosemary Schindler Garlow, who studied thoroughly 60 political topics covered in REVERSED, and then crafted carefully written prayers which she passionately prayed at the close of all 60 videos.

And I am also grateful to Tristan Teng, a graduate of Chula Vista Christian University in San Diego, who also serves as the Well Versed Resource Manager. He worked for hours behind the camera, preparing “B-roll” to be added to the videos in post-production, and then we got him in front of the camera to do brief close-outs or “outros.”

When will the post-production be completed and the videos be released? At this point we believe it will be late August. Why is that significant? Because you – yes, you – can lead a small group study based on REVERSED. How hard is it to lead such a study? It is not hard at all, now that you have (1) a video to watch as a group, and (2) study questions to ask the group. There is almost no preparation required.

In addition, when is the best time to start a new group? Answer: The fall, right after school starts. So consider being a REVERSED Small Group Leader, this September. That is the easiest time of the year to invite people to join a small group, right as they come out of the summer and settle into the fall schedule. There is another reason for beginning in September of 2025. The midterm elections are in 2026. You know the goal of Well Versed. We want to help people “think biblically” and to “take Jesus into the voting booth.”
